February 19 is the Day of the State Coat of Arms of Ukraine

It was on February 19, 1992, that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the Tryzub (Trident) as the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine, defining it as the main element of the great State Coat of Arms of Ukraine. It became a golden Tryzub on a blue shield — a national symbol of Ukrainians during the liberation struggles of the 20th century.

Our coat of arms, our sanctuary, has a long and majestic history, born from the eternal popular desire for freedom and independence. It is a national symbol that embodies a thousand-year connection between generations — past, present, and future.

No one has managed to erase, destroy, or ban it, and no one ever will! Our ancestors preserved and reproduced it at the cost of their own lives. It has survived to our days and now grants strength in the fight against the occupiers who dared to come to our land.

The Tryzub unites Ukrainian patriots, our brave men and women of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; it is depicted on the chevrons of our defenders who are protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state today.

Let us honor our state symbols!

May the State Coat of Arms bring Freedom, Victory, and a better destiny for Ukraine!
