CELEBRATIONS TOOK PLACE IN MYRGOROD ON THE OCCASION OF THE 105TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NATIVE ALMA-MATER

On February 27, celebrations dedicated to the 105th anniversary of Luhansk National University named after Taras Shevchenko took place in the assembly hall of the Center for Aesthetic Education at the Myrhorod location.

The event was attended by Olena KARAMAN, Rector of LNU named after Taras Shevchenko, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor; Artur MOLDOVANOV, Vice-Rector of the University, and representatives of the leadership of the Myrhorod community – Nataliia HYRKA, Head of the Myrhorod District Council, and Tetiana KOLYBELNYK, Head of the Education Department of the Myrhorod City Council.

The event was initiated and organized by the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and was held under the title "Familiar Strangers #105LNU_Myrhorod". The celebration program consisted of two parts: the official opening with the awarding of master's diplomas, and a presentation of the results of joint scientific, educational, and public educational work between the university and the community in the natural and agricultural sectors. The event began with words of gratitude to our Defenders and a minute of silence to honor the memory of the fallen Defenders and peaceful citizens of our country.

The jubilee date – the 105th anniversary of LNU named after Taras Shevchenko – became the central theme of the event. Those present recalled the heroic century-long journey of the university, which, despite all trials, remained a leading scientific center of Ukraine and a symbol of the resilience of education. Today, the institution actively implements innovations and offers applicants 216 modern programs, training specialists for the reconstruction of our state.

The presentation of master's diplomas was an exceptionally important event. It is worth noting that more than 100 graduates – representatives of the Myrhorod community – successfully defended their master's theses in January, confirming the high intellectual potential of the region.

A landmark event at the jubilee celebrations was the recognition of Serhii HLOTOV – a graduate of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, a lecturer at our university, PhD in Biological Sciences, participant of the 27th and 28th Ukrainian Antarctic Expeditions, volunteer, and photographer. Rector Olena KARAMAN presented him with a Commemorative Award of Luhansk National University named after Taras Shevchenko for his active support of the university and shaping a positive image of his native Alma Mater. The Rector noted his long-term assistance in replenishing the material resources of the university with unique laboratory equipment. In addition, Serhii donated valuable copies of books to the university library, including his own book "Ring of Fire. Defense of the Luhansk Airport", published in English.

The second part of the event was dedicated to the results of long-term cooperation between the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and the community. The main focus was on the project "Familiar Strangers #105LNU_Myrhorod", created at the initiative of Mayor Serhii Solomakha. Students of the community became true nature researchers, creating video legends that are now accessible to everyone via QR codes on the city streets. Certificates of the project winners were awarded to 16 authors: Vitalina Buzdyhar, Nikita Vovk, Valeriia Pysarenko, Maryna Ohorodnikova, Anastasiia Shapoval, Artem Hlushchenko, Zlata Blazhko, Milana Blazhko, Dmytro Tytarenko, Dmytro Ovcharenko, Denys Korsun, Sofiia Minakova, Anna Korostylova, Zlata Polomar, Yevheniia Hais, and Alina Filipieva. For preparing the youth, certificates of honor were awarded to Iryna Ishchenko, Nataliia Tuzenko, Tetiana Makarenko, Olena Lashko, Ruslana Levchenko, and Inna Rozhko. On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the university, Tetiana KOLYBELNYK, Head of the Education Department of the Myrhorod City Council, was awarded an Honorary Certificate of the University for many years of cooperation. The implementation of a number of joint traditional initiatives of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences in the community was also mentioned — "Family Ecological Christmas Tree", "Little Angel for Defenders", "Spring Fantasies", and "Save the Planet – Save the Animals", as well as volunteer actions for making eco trench candles for the front line.

At the conclusion of the celebrations, Rector Olena Karaman officially handed over the compiled materials of the project "Familiar Strangers #105LNU_Myrhorod" to the community for further use for educational and tourism purposes. In her speech, Olena Leonidivna expressed sincere gratitude to the entire Myrhorod community for hosting the university so warmly in the difficult year of 2022, becoming a reliable second home for it. Nataliia HYRKA, Head of the Myrhorod District Council, and Tetiana KOLYBELNYK, Head of the Education Department, addressed the crowd with congratulatory words. They congratulated Luhansk National University named after Taras Shevchenko on its 105th anniversary and thanked the entire staff for their extraordinary activity and significant contribution to the development and cultural and intellectual life of the community.

Special words of gratitude for organizing the holiday were spoken to Anzhelika KHOMENKO, Director of the Center for Aesthetic Education. The final chord of the event was the University Anthem, after which everyone present — from respected scientists to young researchers — joined for a group photo on stage, which became a symbol of the joint strength of the Shevchenko family and the Myrhorod community.
