Historical Background
The Faculty of Technology and Information Systems was established on April 1, 2026, on the basis of two units:
Educational and Scientific Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies,
Educational and Scientific Institute of Technologies and Trade.
March 1, 1921 - The Luhansk State Pedagogical Institute was created;
1927 - The Faculty of Vocational Education was created under the Technical and Mathematical Department;
1931 - The Faculty of Physics and Mathematics was created;
2001 - The Institute of Economics and Business was created, which included the main specialties of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics;
December 1, 2007 - The Institute of Information Technologies (IIT) was created.
June 25, 2013 - Renamed the Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies.

September 1, 2014 - Relocated to Starobilsk, Luhansk region
June 25, 2016 - Renamed the Educational and Scientific Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies (IFMIT).

August 23, 2017 - Relocated to Rubizhne (12 Klubnyi Lane), Luhansk region

With the beginning of the open armed aggression, IMIT (FTIS) left Rubizhne, but lost all premises and equipment
June 27, 2022 - Relocated to Myrhorod (90 Hoholya St.), Poltava region
August 30, 2022 - Relocated to Myrhorod (52/15 Starosvitska St.), Poltava region
December 1, 2023 - By order of the rector No. 104-OD (dated August 25, 2023), the Educational and Scientific Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies was liquidated, and on the basis of the university's structural subdivisions, the Educational and Scientific Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies (IMIT) was created
Faculty of Physics and Mathematics
Years of existence: 1931-2001
Among the prominent scientists of the Physics and Mathematics faculty are: Kononenko Petro Ivanovych, Bohomolov Petro Dmytrovych, Korablyov Ivan Pylypovych, Smichenko Andriy Semenovych, Moskvych Mykhailo Ivanovych, Havrylko Hryhoriy Ivanovych, Lopovok Lev Mykhailovych, Kulandina Oleksandra Mykolaivna, and others.
These scientists are bright personalities, professionals, demanding leaders, and organizers of the scientific and creative life of the faculty.
Among the graduates of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics are prominent educators, engineers, scientists, cultural figures, officials, businessmen and entrepreneurs, leaders and activists of public organizations at the all-Ukrainian and regional level, as well as many young talented people who, having received knowledge and life experience at the faculty, confidently started their professional path.
Faculty of Technology and Information Systems
The Faculty of Technology and Information Systems (FTIS), established in April 2026 on the basis of two educational and scientific institutes (IMIT and ITOT), is the successor to the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, "Fizmat", which was founded in 1931.
FTIS successfully carries out research, educational, and upbringing activities, relying on the best world and domestic traditions, guided by modern principles and the latest trends in the development of the educational services sector.
The material base of FTIS and highly qualified personnel allow for the training of educators, scientists, engineers, and teachers. FTIS has licenses for training bachelors and masters in the following specialties:
- Secondary education by specialization (Mathematics, Physics, Informatics),
- Vocational education by specialization (Technologies, Transport, Agricultural production)
- Computer engineering,
- Computer science,
- Software engineering,
- Mathematics,
- Physics.

FTIS has educational and scientific laboratories, computer labs equipped with modern instruments and specialized equipment. Students of FTIS have repeatedly won prizes at all-Ukrainian student Olympiads and participated in competitions for student scientific papers.
FTIS proudly preserves the glorious traditions of the life of "Fizmat," because the traditions of the symbiosis of solid knowledge and art are passed down from generation to generation. We believe that the graduates of FTIS will write a new page of success in the history of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, achieved through painstaking work, persistence, and the joint inspired work of students and teachers.
