Student Self-Government of FTIS (formerly IMIT/ITOT)
Student self-government is an integral part of the educational process in modern higher education institutions. It is a system of student organization that promotes the development of leadership qualities, social activity, and independence among youth. The institute, as an educational institution, becomes a space for realizing these tasks, and student self-government acts as a tool for interaction between students, administration, and faculty.
Main Tasks of Student Self-Government:
- Protection of student rights and interests;
- Promoting the fulfillment of student duties;
- Supporting students' educational, scientific, and creative activities;
- Contributing to the improvement of student living and leisure conditions;
- Facilitating the creation of various student clubs, societies, and associations;
- Promoting a healthy lifestyle;
- Involving the student parliament and students in volunteering;
- Assisting the university in organizing all events.
Student self-government is based on the following principles:
- Voluntariness, collegiality, legality, and transparency;
- Equal and decisive participation of members of Student Self-Government;
- Activity, self-reliance, and creative initiative;
- Openness and publicity;
- Democracy;
- Humanization and establishment of partnership relations between the administration and student self-government, and between the faculty and the student community;
- Consideration of individual interests and specificities of students.
The main functions of student self-government are:
- Protection and representation of student rights and interests;
- Promoting students' civic, social, and professional self-realization;
- Providing proposals to improve the quality of education, taking into account the scientific and professional interests of students;
- Conducting organizational, scientific, cultural, sports, health-related, and other events;
- Activities aimed at raising student consciousness, their demands for the level of their knowledge, and fostering patriotism;
- Informing students about administrative decisions that concern them;
- Promoting cooperation and exchange of work experience with students from other higher education institutions and youth organizations.
