SOCIAL AND HUMANITARIAN ACTIVITIES

Social and humanitarian work is an integral part of shaping a specialist's personality. It is aimed at the multifaceted, harmonious development of a higher education student as a creative individual, fostering their awareness of the social significance of their chosen profession, its necessity for society, and personal fulfillment (for general information on social and humanitarian activities, visit the university website).

The social and humanitarian process at the institute is based on the principles of humanism, democracy, and national self-awareness. Social and humanitarian work is a component of the educational process. The key directions of social and humanitarian work among higher education students should be democratization and humanization in the development of national self-awareness, fostering mutual respect between nations and peoples, and engaging with universal human values.

Social and humanitarian work among higher education students must be carried out in one form or another by all teaching staff. It is their professional and civic duty. Simultaneously, it is necessary for students to realize that it is their duty to systematically master professional knowledge and practical skills, enhance their cultural level, and adhere to the university charter, internal rules, legislation, and moral and ethical norms of life.

When planning and conducting social and humanitarian activities, the interests and inclinations of students, their qualification and specialization, the period of study, traditions and continuity, and new social conditions are taken into account. Social and humanitarian work at the institute is a purposeful process that takes into account the specific features of the university, in particular, the professionalism of the teaching staff, who are largely the bearers of spiritual, moral, ethical, and business qualities; the level of their interaction with students and their influence on the students' consciousness in order to form a balanced life position, the ability to perceive, use, disseminate, and acquire necessary experience; and the ability to be bearers of leading ideas and organizers of social and political life in Ukraine.

The main goal of social and humanitarian work is to form a harmoniously developed individual—highly educated, socially active, and nationally conscious, endowed with deep civic responsibility, high spiritual qualities, familial and patriotic feelings—an individual who is a bearer of the best achievements of national and world culture and is capable of self-development and self-improvement.

The tasks of social and humanitarian work are:

 Formation of national consciousness and civic dignity, fostering respect and love for the native land and Ukrainian traditions;
 Preparation of nationally conscious intelligentsia, preservation of the nation's intellectual gene pool, and multiplication of cultural potential to ensure the high efficiency of future specialists;
 Formation of civic and social activity and responsibility, and involving youth in the process of state-building and the development of social relations;
 Developing a clear civic position and instilling in young people a belief in the rule of law, which is the only guarantee of freedom;
 Cultivating the best traits of the Ukrainian mentality: diligence, striving for freedom, harmony with nature, respect for women, love for the native land; raising the prestige of the Ukrainian language in the academic environment and developing the Ukrainian-language educational space; enriching aesthetic experience, participation in the revival and creation of national and cultural traditions of the city and region, expanding creative ties with cultural institutions, and developing artistic abilities;
 Educating future specialists to be authoritative, highly educated, and bearers of a high level of general political, legal, intellectual, social-psychological, aesthetic, physical, and valeological culture;
 Creating conditions for personal self-realization in accordance with individual abilities, social needs, and personal interests;
 Creating conditions for the free development of the personality, their thinking, and general culture, and engaging them in various types of creative activity (research, cultural-educational, social-humanistic, physical-recreational, sports, law enforcement);
 Fostering awareness of the interconnection between individual freedom, human rights, and civic duty;
 Creating necessary conditions for the effective development of student self-government and identifying potential leaders and organizers;
 Ensuring a high level of professionalism and upbringing of young people, promoting the development of individual abilities, talent, and self-realization;
 Nurturing respect for one's alma mater, and adhering to and developing the democratic and student traditions of the higher education institution.
