The Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" defines the need for the functioning of Scientific Societies of students (cadets, trainees), postgraduates, doctoral students and young scientists in institutions of higher education.

The Council of Young Scientists and Higher Education Seekers of Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University is a permanent voluntary, collegial self-governing public organization of Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University, whose members are higher education seekers of various levels, doctoral students, scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers of the age in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities".

The work of such a public organization of Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University is regulated by the Regulation on the Council of Young Scientists and Awardees of Taras Shevchenko LNU.

The purpose of the Council's activities is to create conditions for the development and realization of the scientific potential of the university's youth and the exchange of knowledge, by uniting young scientists for: expressing their interests in the professional sphere, involvement in national and international projects and networks of researchers, implementation of innovative scientific projects, solving priority scientific and technical tasks, implementation of scientific achievements and their popularization.

The main tasks and directions of the Council's work:

  • facilitating the exercise of young scientists' constitutional rights regarding their participation in scientific, scientific-technical, and innovation activities;
  • representing the interests (regarding scientific work) of higher education students, doctoral candidates, and young scientists before the university administration and other organizations;
  • supporting and coordinating scientific activities within the university's educational and research institutes/faculties and separate structural units;
  • popularizing research findings among students and encouraging their involvement in scientific activities;
  • organizing and conducting various scientific events:
  • conferences, round tables, scientific and practical seminars, trainings, etc.;
  • promoting the implementation of the results of scientific research of young scientists;
  • facilitating the organization and ensuring the participation of young people in scientific and practical conferences, competitions of scientific works in Ukraine and in international projects for obtaining grants for conducting scientific research;
  • promoting interaction between young scientists and experienced scientists;
  • promoting the integration of the activities of young scientists at the regional, all-Ukrainian and international levels;
  • maintaining high-quality research standards among young scientists within the university’s educational and research institutes, faculties, and separate structural units;
  • fostering academic integrity among the university’s young scientists and students;
  • facilitating the publication of research findings in scholarly journals, including those indexed in databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Index Copernicus, and others;
  • promoting an increase in scientific citation indices—such as SCI (Science Citation Index), SSCI (Social Sciences Citation Index), and A&HCI (Arts & Humanities Citation Index)—as well as the h-index (Hirsch index), etc.;
  • informing the scientific community about its activities.
